W. Hugh Gillon IV

Mr. Gillon was born in Natchez, Mississippi on May 21, 1965, and in 1991 he was admitted to the Mississippi bar, the U. S. District Courts of Mississippi (both Northern and Southern) and the U. S. Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit. Mr. Gillon received his undergraduate education at Mississippi State University receiving his Bachelor’s of Business Administration in 1988. His legal education was received at the University of Mississippi where he obtained his Juris Doctorate in 1991. While in law school, Mr. Gillon was a member of Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity and the Moot Court Board. Mr. Gillon has practiced law with the Upshaw firm since graduation in 1991. He began his practice working in the firm’s Greenwood office, and moved to the firm’s Jackson office in early 1993. Mr. Gillon is a member of the Mississippi Bar Association, the Hinds County Bar Association, The Mississippi Defense Lawyer’s Association, and the Defense Research Institute. Mr. Gillon’s practice areas include the following: personal injury defense, products liability, automobile and trucking liability, premises liability, professional liability, toxic torts, mass torts, personal liability, agricultural litigation, property/easement disputes, insurance defense, insurance coverage issues and litigation, and appellate work in both state and federal courts. Having been born and raised in the state, with Mississippi ancestry dating back to the early 1800's, Mr. Gillon is particularly conversant with the numerous small town venues and jurisdictions throughout the state. While Mr. Gillon litigates cases in every county of the state, a significant portion of his state court practice is in Wilkerson, Adams, Jefferson, Claiborne, Warren, Hinds, Madison, Rankin, Copiah, Simpson, and Smith Counties. Mr. Gillon handles litigated matters in all of the federal courts in Mississippi, and has argued cases before the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
